  • A proportional representation of the targeted schools of the two English-language school boards in Montréal as a priority, and of the three French-language school service centers depending on the spaces available
  • A representation of the cycles
  • The participation of the individual in other offers of professional development (current school year).

Description

The Preschool Cycle Program is intended to provide children with equal opportunities to develop in different areas so that they are able to learn and be successful throughout their lives. It gives every child a chance to learn, understand and become familiar with the school environment, and to believe in their own abilities. Children arrive at school with experiences that vary according to their personal characteristics, family and sociocultural background. It is therefore important to take each child into account and build on the strengths encountered in each area of development.

Join us for three dynamic workshops designed specifically for kindergarten (K4-K5) teachers! Each session will be anchored in the practical application of the Preschool Cycle Program through the lens of equity and social justice.

Session 1: The Physical & Motor Development workshop will engage educators in fun, hands-on activities that promote motor skills through movement games and creative play.

Session 2: The Cognitive Development through Arts workshop, will allow teachers to explore innovative strategies to integrate art into daily activities, that enhance critical thinking and problem-solving through creative expression.

Session 3: The Social Development workshop will focus on fostering a sense of belonging through shared classroom experiences, thus creating a sense of community and a culture of belonging. Each workshop promises practical tools and inspiring ideas to support holistic development in young children.

All preschool teachers (K4-K5) from the Anglophone sector are invited to register for one, two or all three sessions.

Specific and Measurable Goals

In each session we will:

  • Explore aspects of the Preschool Cycle Program specific to the targeted area of development
  • Reflect on each area of development in relation to teaching in a disadvantaged community
  • Put theory into practice through hands-on activities
  • Provide concrete ideas ready to use in any preschool classroom
